THE LILA CENTRE

Honorary Spokesperson - Peter Trueman

Peter Trueman

Now retired and living on Amherst Island near Kingston, many will remember Peter from his days with CBC, CTV and Global as a reporter, correspondent and anchor.

As well, he spent five years as host and Managing Editor of the Discovery Channel's Great Canadian Parks series.

He is an Officer of the Order of Canada.

"In my view, one of the things to cheer about in North American life these days is the degree to which we seem to be opening up to cultures from older parts of the world. We have only to consider the exciting variety of international cuisine now available in a small city like Kingston to know that our gastronomic horizons are much broader than they used to be.

The ancient civilizations of China, India and Japan, for example, are beginning to influence not only what we eat, but also how we think, what we believe, and how we look after ourselves and our planet.

If you had told me a few years ago that my wife and I would take up the gentle Chinese martial art of Tai Chi in our 60's, or that I would be practicing Buddhist Vipassana, or mindfulness, meditation daily by the time I was 70, I'd have said you were mixing us up with someone else. But we are doing those things and are better in mind and body for them.

The Lila Centre can open up fascinating new pathways for you too."......Peter Trueman 2007
